Joseph Svachula

Vice President of Smart Grid and Technology at Exelon, Svachula has a key role in developing the strategic direction for Smart Grid technologies in collaboration across Exelon Utilities so that customers fully experience the benefits that this technology promises.

Prior to his current role Svachula served as Vice President of Distribution System Operations and Vice President of Field Operations.  He began his professional career at ComEd in 1988 in a variety of testing engineer positions and has more than 25 years of utility industry experience, including key manager positions in Transmission & Substations, Work Management, Distribution Operations, Operational Strategy & Business Intelligence, and Customer Operations Strategies & Support.

Svachula serves on the Board of Directors for Chicago Special Olympics and Special Children’s Charities.  He is currently serving as the co-chairman of the 2014 IEEE T&D Conference in Chicago. He is the past president of the St. John Brebeuf Athletic Board, a parochial grammar school in Niles, Illinois, and volunteers for various special recreation activities in his community.

Svachula holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Master of Engineering Management from Northwestern University.
